Key figures for the half-year
China's Zoomlion Heavy Industry published its unaudited interim report for the first half of 2026 on August 27, and on August 28 it issued a press release with explanations. Revenue rose 9.17% to 27.14 billion yuan (about 4.04 billion US dollars). According to the company, sales grew both in China and abroad.
- Overseas revenue — 15.54 billion yuan (about 2.31 billion US dollars), up 12.45%. Its share of total revenue rose by 1.67 percentage points year on year to 57.25%.
- Revenue in China — 11.60 billion yuan.
- Gross profit — 7.28 billion yuan, up 4.03%. Gross margin fell from 28.1% to 26.8%.
- Operating profit — 3.34 billion yuan, up 17.90%.
- Net profit attributable to shareholders — 2.10 billion yuan, down 23.65%. Basic earnings per share were 0.24 yuan against 0.32 yuan a year earlier.
Why profit fell
Operating profit rose by almost 18%, and that growth was supported by other net income: according to Tiger Brokers, it increased by 66.60% to 1.51 billion yuan. The growth did not reach net profit because of the financial block. Currency losses came to 0.82 billion yuan, and on net financial items the company recorded a loss of 0.90 billion yuan, whereas in the first half of 2025 this line showed a profit of 0.39 billion. Tiger Brokers names currency losses as the main reason why operating growth did not turn into profit growth.
The margin fell because of a change in the sales mix and competition. Since the end of 2025, borrowings have risen from 32.94 to 36.86 billion yuan: in February the company placed convertible bonds worth 6.00 billion yuan at 0.70% with settlement in dollars. There will be no interim dividend, and Zoomlion gave no full-year forecast.
Which equipment grew and which did not
Construction machinery as a whole brought in 25.95 billion yuan, 9.33% more than a year earlier. By segment, the picture is mixed:
- concrete machinery — 6.53 billion yuan, up 34.11%;
- earthmoving machinery — 5.28 billion yuan, up 23.11%;
- cranes — 7.78 billion yuan, down 6.55% because of weaker demand in China;
- agricultural machinery — 1.69 billion yuan, down 15.19%.
Earthmoving machinery, according to the company, generated about 20% of revenue and became the largest source of overseas sales among all segments. Together with mining machinery, aerial work platforms and agricultural machinery, it brought in about 12.5 billion yuan. That is roughly 10% more than a year earlier and over 46% of total revenue. Among the growth points, Tiger Brokers names mini excavators and large-tonnage excavators, as well as aerial work platforms with a high working height. During the half-year the company brought 20 new base models running on new energy sources to market.
Mining machinery added 57%
Among the segments for which Zoomlion disclosed growth, mining machinery has the highest rate: up 57.2% over the half-year. In October Zoomlion spoke about this segment separately. The range covers excavation, loading, hauling, crushing and screening. It includes the 400-ton ZE4000G mining excavator, the ZTE520 hybrid dump truck with an electric drive and a rated payload of 300 t, and the ZT160HEV hybrid, which according to the manufacturer can operate autonomously for up to 18 hours straight.
Battery-powered dump trucks in the 100-ton class, the company says, have worked without failures for more than 8,000 hours, and the hybrids cut fuel consumption by up to 40%. Wu Yuanfeng, deputy general manager of Zoomlion Mining Machinery, claims that fully electric machinery cuts costs by more than 50%, and that hybrids raise profitability by at least 15%. At an open-pit mine in northern China, autonomous dump trucks, remotely operated excavators and unified fleet dispatching increased the number of trips per dump truck per day by more than 10% — this too is the company's own data.
Zoomlion has already supplied electrified mining machinery to coal open-cast mines in Indonesia, quarries in Argentina, Ecuador and a number of African countries. Several mining machines running on new energy sources have received European CE certification.
Service and parts abroad
As of June 30, Zoomlion's international network included more than 30 main hubs, over 530 second- and third-tier points, more than 300 parts warehouses and almost 7,000 local employees. A plant for aerial work platforms has started up in Hungary, and the site in Germany has been expanded into a multifunctional hub. South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa and East Asia grew faster than overseas sales as a whole.
What this means for buyers in Kazakhstan
Central Asia is not among the faster-growing regions in the report, and the company gives no separate data for Kazakhstan. But a few practical conclusions can be drawn:
- A bet on exports. More than half of Zoomlion's revenue already comes from overseas markets, and the company promises to keep developing local operations. That is a reason to discuss not only the price with dealers but also the terms of service.
- Warehouses and lead times. Before buying, it is worth finding out where the nearest parts warehouse is and how long delivery of standard items takes.
- Savings — so far only on the manufacturer's word. The 50% cost reduction and fuel savings of up to 40% are confirmed only by Zoomlion's own data. Miners considering electric and hybrid dump trucks should request operating results in similar conditions: climate, altitude above sea level, haul distance.
Zoomlion links further demand to infrastructure investment, fleet renewal and capital spending on mining around the world.
