BAIC X65 crossover SUV
The BAIC X65 is a compact crossover SUV built by Senova, a sub-brand of BAIC. The X65 was first shown in November 2014 as Senova's first crossover and went on sale in the Chinese market in March 2015, comfortably exceeding all expectations. The more compact Senova X55 CUV was released later. Known earlier as the Beijing Auto C51X at the development stage, the BAIC X65 is based on the Matrix platform developed by Beijing Auto, which is derived from the Saab 9-3 platform. As Beijing Auto's parent company, BAIC acquired the platforms from GM in 2009 and developed several cars on that platform. The Senova X65 is fitted with a 2,0-litre in-line four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 177 hp, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
