The Beijing Auto BJ80 is a luxury mid-size four-wheel-drive SUV built by BAIC Motor since November 2016 under Beijing Auto Works (BAW), a subsidiary of Beijing Auto Industry Corporation (BAIC). The PLA announced that the BJ80 would be used in various roles, including command, service and reconnaissance. The SUV now known as the BJ80 was presented as another concept car at the Beijing Motor Show in 2014 for production. BAIC mentioned that during the BAS event it would be known as the BJ80C. The use of a 2,8-litre engine instead of the 3,2-litre diesel engine was settled by BAIC, but the former will be used for PLA vehicles. During the show BAIC representatives said that the demonstration vehicle used a 4,0 V8 engine with an automatic gearbox.
