From 16 to 18 September 2026, the Atakent exhibition centre in Almaty hosted two concurrent exhibitions for those who buy and maintain heavy machinery: the 31st Central Asian International Mining and Metallurgy Exhibition, Mining and Metals Central Asia (MMCA), and the 22nd Kazakhstan International Exhibition of Road Construction, Heavy and Municipal Machinery, Kazcomak 2026. The organiser was Iteca together with its international partner ICA Events. The exhibitions received official support from Kazakhstan's Ministry of Industry and Construction, the Almaty city akimat and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs. We could not find any final figures in open sources after the close, so the numbers below come from announcements and a first-day report.

Scale: sources disagree on the number of exhibitors

Iteca's press release of 4 August and inAlmaty's preview on the eve of the opening named 520 companies from 30 countries, 62 of which were entering the Kazakhstan market for the first time. An advertorial in Industrialnaya Karaganda dated 14 September already speaks of more than 530 companies from 30 countries. The final numbers of exhibitors and visitors are not known.

Other figures, according to announcements by the organiser and city media:

  • Exhibition space: more than 20,000 square metres, including over 3,000 square metres of outdoor space.
  • Open-air display: around 150 units of heavy mining machinery and equipment.
  • National pavilions: Austria, Germany, Canada, China, Russia, Turkey and Finland.

Kazcomak: announced exhibitors and sections

For builders, road contractors and municipal services, Kazcomak is the more relevant of the two. The list of its exhibitors published by Iteca includes AutoBrand, Eurasia Machinery, Zenit Invest, Kamaz Euro Service, Kurylis Tekhnika, Spets-Avto, Borusan Cat Kazakhstan, Globus Machinery and Sevalo Engineering Machinery Kazakhstan. The organiser announced the following exhibition sections:

  • lifting, road construction and warehouse machinery;
  • mining and quarry equipment;
  • crawler excavators and mini excavators;
  • wheel and telescopic loaders;
  • bulldozers and motor graders;
  • equipment for asphalt plants.

XCMG, SANY and Komatsu are not named in this list. However, Iteca's list ends with the words "and others", so it cannot be concluded that these brands were absent from the show: if the make you need is not on the list, check with its official dealer.

The Russian pavilion and a focus on service

On 16 September, Sputnik Kazakhstan, citing the Russian Export Center, reported the opening of a collective Made in Russia pavilion as part of MMCA. More than 30 companies from over 15 Russian regions took part, and the exporters expected to hold around 300 business meetings with partners from Kazakhstan over the three days of the show. The exhibits included:

  • CHETRA: a bulldozer for heavy earthmoving and overburden removal;
  • SPK Resurs: industrial pumps and automation solutions for asphalt plants and bitumen terminals;
  • Geolink Newtech: flowmeters for abrasive slurry and reagent dosing;
  • Tula Mining Equipment Plant: an explosion-proof winch;
  • Rostov Induction Steam Generator Plant: equipment producing up to 2400 kg of steam per hour;
  • Aibim: digital solutions for construction project management and BIM.

Mikhail Kladkin, the Russian Export Center's representative in Kazakhstan, said that Russia "remains the leading supplier of equipment to Kazakhstan's mining and metallurgical sector", and named deeper cooperation, more joint projects to modernise production and the localisation of service centres in the country as its goals. The claim of leadership is the exporters' own position, not market statistics. What matters more to buyers is that Russian suppliers themselves name local service as one of their goals.

Business programme

Conferences were scheduled over two days in pavilions 8 and 11. The plenary session was titled "Critical Minerals and the Future of Kazakhstan's Mining and Metallurgical Sector: From Resources to Projects"; according to Industrialnaya Karaganda, representatives of the relevant ministry, the Kazakhstan Mining Chamber, Qarmet, ERG and Kazakhmys Smelting were invited to the discussion. At GEOTECH FORUM, held with the support of the mining chamber, a separate session was devoted to the digitalisation of the industry, from automation to intelligent control and robotics. New formats announced included an AI Stage on the adoption of artificial intelligence at enterprises, a podcast zone and a B2B zone, while seminars were prepared by Epiroc, Sandvik, CIDRA Minerals Processing and Norservice.

What buyers should do after the show

If you visited the stands or received exhibition materials from suppliers, it is worth putting any verbal agreements in writing as soon as possible.

  1. Request written offers. Get the prices and lead times quoted at the stand as a commercial offer that specifies the configuration, delivery terms, settlement currency and validity period: a price a supplier quotes verbally commits them to nothing.
  2. Check service where the machinery will operate. If a supplier talks about service centres in Kazakhstan, ask for the address of the nearest one, whether it has a spare-parts warehouse and how long a mechanic takes to reach your site.
  3. Compare several suppliers. National pavilions from seven countries were announced at the show, so equipment of a similar class can be compared on price, delivery times and warranty terms.
  4. Clarify the recycling fee. If you are importing new machinery, ask whether the recycling fee is included in the price and who is responsible for paying it and handling the paperwork.
